This will most certainly sound like an unusual solution—but don’t worry, there are no Sharpies in your future!
A “skin pen” is simply a popular term for a microneedling device such as the MesoPen®, one of the newest tools being used at Southern Surgical Arts.
During a MesoPen procedure, one of our skilled, trained aetheticians will use the MesoPen device (which does resemble a writing instrument, hence the nickname “skin pen”) to create vertical, “micro-perforations” in your skin.
These microscopic holes are invisible to the naked eye, but because they are technically tiny wounds, your body reacts much as it would in response to a “real” injury.
Your skin’s natural healing systems are triggered, stimulating the production of elastin and collagen. These two substances are vital for the creation of new skin. Since there is no true injury, the result will be stronger, thicker skin.
Over time and subsequent procedures, you will notice firmer, tighter, smoother skin. The appearance of your acne scars, stretch marks, and other imperfections will fade.
We can also use the MesoPen to deliver treatments like topical creams and gels, lotions and serums more effectively—using the same tiny openings created by the needles.
Instead of simply applying products like hyaluronic acid, Vitamin C, hydrogenated collagen and peptides to the epidermis, we can boost their effectiveness by using them in conjunction with your MesoPen procedure. This allows these treatments to be absorbed much more deeply—and evenly—into your skin.
Best of all, there is little to no downtime involved in a MesoPen procedure. Discomfort is minimal to none, the procedure is done in 30 minutes or less, and the most common effect is mild reddening for a day or two following the procedure.
You will begin to see more beautiful skin within two weeks and maximum results will be visible within six months.
We would be happy to discuss how a MesoPen procedure can benefit your skin. Please call us at 423-266-3331 to schedule your personal consultation, compliments of Southern Surgical Arts.
