EON Body Contouring is a non-invasive device that uses safe laser energy to rid hard-to-lose, unwanted fat cells from different areas around your body. The EON Technology

Losing fat in certain areas can be difficult. As we age, fat can linger in many cumbersome places. During a weight-loss journey that pairs a healthy diet with routine exercise, your body readily burns visceral fat to use as energy.^[1] This fat lives deeper in the body, and, when burned for energy, is the reason for seeing the number on the scale drop. However, once you reach your target weight, you might notice remaining fat veiling your hard-earned muscles. This is subcutaneous fat. The body stores subcutaneous fat to regulate heat loss, prevent the spread of dermal infection and protect internal bodily structures from external pressures.^[2] This is the tissue EON Body Contouring targets. 

The EON device uses a 1064nm laser to gently heat subcutaneous fat cells to 51° C (123°F) while EON’s proprietary cooling technology keeps the skin at a comfortable 39.5°C (103.1°F). At this heat, fat cells lose their cellular integrity and begin gradual apoptosis (cell death). The laser’s thermal energy raises the cells’ temperature to transform the stored energy into fatty acids and glycerol.^[3]  The affected fat then passes through the lymphatic system and out of the body. Because this process happens gradually, final results can be seen around 12 weeks after the session.

No Downtime

The 1064nm laser only zeroes in on subcutaneous tissue, leaving all surrounding structures unaffected. This focus allows patients to shed fat with minimal bruising or swelling. Other devices treat the subcutaneous tissue directly. These require local anesthesia, multiple incisions, and specific surgical preparation. However, the EON Body Contouring device rests just outside the body, not touching the skin. So, no incision, anesthesia, or exuberant preparation is needed.

You will be able to fit an EON Body Contouring session in over your lunch break! We begin by resting the EON device over your target, unwanted fat. The laser inside the EON device generates thermal energy that spreads a red light over the fatty tissue. For the next 20 minutes, you can comfortably relax while the stubborn fat cells absorb the laser energy. Once you are done, you can leave our care and jump right back into your daily routine. Many of our patients return to treat other areas with EON after seeing how simple one procedure was.

Once we have created your treatment plan, we will schedule a time and date for your EON session. We will give you a list of preparatory steps to follow before your appointment. 

Procedure

Since EON is not a surgical procedure, preparation will be very light. Before you come to your appointment, be sure not to have any lotions or cream on the target areas. This procedure does not require any gels or anesthetic applications. First, we will have you lie down with laser goggles on your eyes. Then, we will move the EON device over your target area. The device works in 20-minute cycles. To treat the entire abdomen, you will need three cycles. The device’s robotic arm has a sensor that will scan your abdomen’s topography and create a personalized approach to your treatment. Then, the laser will switch on and the robotic arm will slowly move around the target area, heating the fat cells to 51°C. The EON device monitors the skin’s temperature and uses jet-cooling technology to keep the skin at a comfortable 39.5°C. Once the EON laser has treated the entire area, you will be free to leave our care and jump right back into your daily schedule.

Recovery & Results

You might notice subtle bruising or swelling in the treated areas. This is the most common side effect and lasts a couple of days before subsiding. You will be able to resume daily activities, including exercising that very day. Then, you will notice the fat’s thickness starts to shrink. Over the next three months, the fat cells’ internal structure process through the body, resulting in a slimmer contoured appearance. To see the best results possible, continue to lead a healthy, balanced life. 

Surgical Body Contouring Procedures

For those interested in a more extensive and involved fat loss procedure, you might be interested in liposuction. During a liposuction procedure, surgeons take an aspirating cannula to suction out subcutaneous fat cells through a minor incision. This procedure physically removes fat cells from the body, providing the patient with instant results after the swelling subsides.
