Sylfirm X
Sylfirm X is a type of advanced microneedling treatment that allows exosomes to penetrate the skin more efficiently and accentuate the skin rejuvenation effects. In summary, microneedling devices cause tiny controlled injuries to the skin that stimulate fibroblast cells to create more connective proteins. Sylfirm X employs radiofrequency (RF) energy that contracts existing collagen to create a skin-tightening effect. The RF is also able to clot the pinpoint amount of blood from the microinjuries, leading to faster recovery. In addition to treating mildly lax skin, it can reduce the size of large pores, minimize scars, and fade stretch marks.
Morpheus8
Morpheus8 is similar to Sylfirm X since it’s a microneedling device that incorporates RF. In Morpheus8, the RF is distributed only in the tips of the needles, rather than the whole needle. This device also operates on a lower amount of power than Sylfirm X; it has 1 MHz v.s. Sylfirm’s 2 MHz. Morpheus8 also has slightly thicker needles, so the microinjuries are slightly more significant.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
Southern Surgical Arts offers multiple types of laser treatments including the CO2 laser, ProFractional laser, Halo laser, PicoSure laser, NanoLaserPeel, and MicroLaserPeel. Each laser emits light at a specific wavelength, a term used to describe the frequency of each individual unit of light. All of our lasers-with the exception of the Halo laser- are purely ablative, meaning that they vaporize the first layer of skin, the epidermis. This means they provide more significant improvement within one treatment session.
Laser treatments, in general, serve to boost collagen and elastin production which helps eliminate fine lines and wrinkles, improves skin texture and tone, reduces hyperpigmentation and the appearance of age spots, and provides mild skin-firming benefits.
The Halo laser uses fractional light, a technology in which only certain areas of the skin are exposed to thermal energy. With this strategic targeting method, the Halo laser allows for healthy, untouched skin to help with healing the injured areas. The Halo can also be alternated to a nonablative setting in which the epidermis is preserved, but the dermis is affected and stimulated to produce more protein.
The NanoLaserPeel and MicroLaserPeel, also ablative laser treatments, give the doctor or laser technician more settings for customization. For example, the MicroLaserPeel reaches various depths within the dermis of the skin, while the NanoLaserPeel tends to work more superficially.
Light Therapy
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is similar to laser skin resurfacing except that it utilizes a wider range of light, utilizing the power of many wavelengths at once. As a nonablative technique, it may require more sessions, but it allows patients to heal much quicker. It is an FDA-approved device for treating broken capillaries under the skin, also called spider veins. This type of redness is often caused by aging, genetics, or sun damage.
